Here are the ensembles that our school has to offer!
SYMPHONIC BAND (7TH and 8th Grade)
This band class is for 7th and 8th grade students who have not had the opportunity to enroll in beginning band in 6th grade AND students who have completed band in 6th grade. Students with no prior band experience will have the opportunity to learn how to play a band instrument and also work with students who have experience in the music program!
They will also learn other basic musical concepts and theory such as reading music, understanding basic music theory, counting and listening skills. Students will also learn how to play instruments in both as an individual and in a group setting. Emphasis is also placed on developing and refining basic musical skills and the techniques required for advancement to the 8th grade Wind Ensemble. Participation in concerts will be required. The choices of instruments for this class are as follows: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Saxophone, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba and Percussion. Participation in concerts will be required.
WIND ENSEMBLE (7th and 8th Grade)
Wind Ensemble is designed for students (primarily 8th grade) to continue their development of the skills and artistry required by their chose instrument. The students will acquire a greater understanding an appreciation of the performing arts. They will also be introduced into advanced rehearsal techniques, vigorous performances to help them become better performers, musicians, and ensemble players.~Emphasis is on developing strong musicianship and leadership within the ensemble, Select 7th grade students may enter the ensemble but only at the teacherís request. Again, participation in concerts is required.
JAZZ ENSEMBLE (7TH and 8th Grade)
This group is available for 7th and 8th grade students. (7th grade students may enter the ensemble but only at the teachers request) It is a select group of musicians who will study and perform many types of jazz, rock, and popular literature. Training will be given in technical and improvisational skills. An emphasis will be given to performance and members are required to attend sectionals, extra rehearsals, concerts, and festivals. Outside personal practice and learning of parts is required. In order to be a part of this ensemble you must be a member in one of the concert ensembles.
ORCHESTRA (7th and 8th Grade)
~Orchestra~is open to all students who play an orchestral string instrument (violin, viola, cello, bass) or for new students who have no experience. Orchestra provides an academic opportunity for participation in instrumental ensemble playing. Special attention is given to forming proper habits regarding ensemble routine, resonant tone production, intonation, rhythm, critical listening, instrumental technique and musical interpretation through skill study and participation. Orchestra offers students the opportunity to study and perform a variety of musical literature of accepted value at an appropriate level of difficulty. Student participation in orchestral events outside the school day such as concerts and rehearsals will be expected.
BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL ENSEMBLES
STEEL DRUM ENSEMBLE (6th- 8th Grade)
This is an extra curricular ensemble that meets every Friday after school. Rampello is well known for its Steel Drum Ensemble and performs regularly in the Downtown and Tampa Bay area. Space is limited but students are welcomed to join this group, here are some stipulations to be a part of this ensemble are as follows:
1) Students must be enrolled in a band class in order to be a part of this group.
2) Students must be recommended by the director (Ms. P).
3) In order to be considers for the group, student must show positive attitude and have positive behavior in Ms. Pís class AND their other classes.
YOUNG STRINGS ENSEMBLE (5th and 6th Grade)
This is also another extra curricular ensemble that meets once a week. In this group students will be learning how to read music, understanding basic music theory, counting and listening skills. Similar idea as to our other young ensembles, our students will also learn how to play violin in both as an individual and in a group setting. Emphasis is also placed on developing and refining basic musical skills and the techniques required for advancement in our Orchestra program here at Rampello.
YOUNG PIRATE JAZZ BAND (7th Grade)
This ensemble is open to any band students who have completed a year in our band program. Students will be learning concepts that will help them in excelling in our Jazz program such as the study and perform many types of jazz, rock, and popular literature. Training will be given in technical and improvisational skills. Students must be in enrolled in a band class to be a part of this ensemble.
RAMPELLO SINGING PIRATES (3rd- 5th Grade)
This is a 3rd-5th grade elementary chorus. Students audition for the group at the beginning of the school year and rehearse in the mornings throughout the school year. The Singing Pirates sing for performances throughout the year. Some of the performances include; mega night, Veterans Day, downtown Christmas caroling, Spring Fling, breakfast performances, December Dazzle, and Spring Fling. RAMPELLO PIRATE CHIMERS (4th and 5th Grade)
This is a 4th-5th instrumental ensemble. Students audition for the ensemble at the beginning of the school year and rehearse once a week throughout the school year. The instruments being used in this group include choir chimes and orff barred instruments. Some of the performances include; mega night, Veterans Day, downtown Christmas caroling, Spring Fling, breakfast performances, December Dazzle, and Spring Fling.
